Consumed by Money, Sex and Power?

Can we stop the nonsense about how to solve violence in the workplace?

Violence is a symptom of an American Culture that has been shaped by the momentum of the decades of the last century. Today, you might find yourself the victim of violence at work, home or in public. Do you avoid someone in the halls, elevators or public and work areas? Is the fashionably decorated workplace a disguise for a dark place where frustration, bullying, stress, expectations of doing more with less, nothing but rushing and hurrying, anger, exist instead of peace and joy and celebrating a job well done together?

There are many reasons for violence in the workplace but in this post, I’d like to make one comparison, what if we compare to an extreme opposite of violence in the workplace.  Continue reading “Consumed by Money, Sex and Power?”

Healthcare: Ask Better Questions

EMAIL to President@whitehouse.gov

President Trump,

You are being led down the same path as Obama for healthcare solutions by the same consultants and lobbyists. Stop looking at their answers that have kept us stuck for 40+ years. The financial angle is not the solution for healthcare. Your industry consultants (like AEI) do not want the questions I’m asking to be asked, guess why?

I believe you want something different to make America Great and that’s why you were elected. The American public is stuck with a very broken system that is too self-serving; my kind of change is what you’ve targeted in your talks. I hope you will see the problem.

You need to ask different questions, I’ve written the questions that lead to better answers; find more than 50 blog posts that ask better questions here “Healthcare White Paper.” As a small business owner of 18 years, I’ve worked at insurance companies, with hospitals, doctors, individuals, the indigent, failing government organizations, large business and small.

Why not try something no one else is talking about; if you don’t go in a different direction the only fix will be a Government one. My posts point to a different solution.

May God Bless your work,

Don

“Things Not Seen” Do You Have Wisdom To See?

A few weeks ago I went on the March for Life in D.C. Then, yesterday, we protested Planned Parent Hood’s abortion practice. Joyful was the sleepless three-day trip for the March for Life and by incredible contrast, how overwhelmingly sad was yesterday standing up for life at the Planned Parenthood clinic.

A Bit Exhausted

The quote below was the Church reading the morning we returned to school at 4 AM. After three nights without sleep, a bit exhausted, I found myself listening for God’s grace and peace while reading the daily readings and taking the time to meet Him in his word.

“Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.” Heb 11:1; Daily Reading January 28th, 2017

The March for Life is a Pro-Life rally in D.C. each January that commemorates the 1974 Supreme Court decision making abortion legal; the famous case of Roe v Wade. The Rally helps me see hope in our future through the eyes of our youth; I have been seven times. I’m honored to listen to the hearts and minds of the forty-seven High School students who intuitively know there is something good about giving a voice to the unborn. But, I watch as they struggle with what the PC world tells them they should believe. Continue reading ““Things Not Seen” Do You Have Wisdom To See?”

President Trump ACA Order

What does undoing ACA look like with this Order? Here’s the first stab at it from President Trumps first days Executive Order. In a word, he loosened the expenses tied to ACA. He then encourages Federal regulators to provide flexibility to the States plus encouraging interstate commerce.

I’m not alone in my view, but many of us have been saying ACA is too broad to be undone with the stroke of a single pen. What President Trump has done is given instruction for the regulators to make the changes needed. He’s given them a very broad framework to work within, but it’s not a roll-back because that’s not possible. Continue reading “President Trump ACA Order”

Zenefits, Short the Stock

Interviewing insurance executives at Zenefits in 2015 the problems of Zenefits were obvious. Just like the problems still are now, January 2017.

In midsummer 2015 I knew the meteoric rise of Zenefits was but a flash in the pan. Running an agency of their size relying on so few insurance staff is two mistakes. First, licensing that has exposed no respect for State protections for citizens and second, and worse than the first, is  squandering the opportunity to disrupt an industry stuck on its own existence.

There is so much opportunity to bring fundamental change to more than brokers it would be a tragedy if Zenefits new leader doesn’t get this right. Continue reading “Zenefits, Short the Stock”

Wondering Why Trump Was Elected?

I’ve been silent since the Donald Trump election because I’ve been shocked at how many people haven’t a clue about why Donald Trump was elected by people like me. My apologies to anyone who might be upset, please provide your comments here so I can learn about you. My hope is to offer, in This Linkedin repost, one explanation long before election day why I voted for Trump.

I’d love to stir up a discussion so I might learn if my post is new information if I’m miss informed or if this is not relevant and why. Continue reading “Wondering Why Trump Was Elected?”

Our Closed System

Screen Shot 2015-08-10 at 11.23.28 AM

Take a look at the complexity of our healthcare system, and this is just the relationship between the owners and the insurance company! It is no wonder that it is hard to identify what the main problems are in our system. Allow us to help you navigate the jungle of healthcare.

We don’t get input from other countries or methods. We don’t allow “new” to permeate the way we do things. As proof, consider the venture capital “Blue Print Health” spent $2.3mm and only 17% was spent on anything “new” to help health.

It’s all new ways of financing medicine, the $2.3mm is not introducing innovative solutions to improve the health of individuals. We look to hospitals and pharma to solve the problem and they provide only solutions they can sell.

Get an upclose look at the chart by watching the video playlist where Don explains our current system.
